i have a 96 eagle talon esi and i have been having problems with the automatic transmistion.
it doesnt happen all the time just sometimes(like once or twice a week) the transmistion will not shift out of 1st gear when im driving it. it will just rev when im driving it. so i pull over and put car in park cut the car off and restart the car and then the transmistion works fine and shifts into all gears. What could be the cause of this?

Yea you're deff gonna have to rebuild your tranny, I had this problem with my first eagle talon. Happened again to me almost exactely a year after, although I wasn't exactly easy on the car

how much does it cost to rebuild the tranny? is it cheaper just to buy a new tranny?

I can't remember exactely how much it was, it was a good 5 years ago since I've had the car, but I think it was around the 800 dollar range. I doubt it would be cheaper to buy a new tranny, maybe used, but then you have the chance of running into the same prob esp if the car had over 80k on the clock
