I recently replaced the rear wiper on my Suburban and it no longer makes good contact across the rear glass as it wipes. Is it possible that the tension spring is getting loose/worn out? What else could I do to improve that contact so I can see out the back once again?

you mean the wiper blade isn't following the curve of the glass? or it's just not wiping away the water that well?

I mean the wiper is not following the curve of the glass. The blade is new and wipes the part(s) it comes in contact with quite well. But the upper (middle) portion of the arc is not wiped at all, which is the primary visibility area...
