can anyone help me with this one. i just bought a 94 cougar with a 4.6, the car runs great. its had alot of money put into it before i got it and runs almost great with the 133000 miles that are on it, but the auto is startin to go. i would love a standard in this car, has anyone ever done a standard swap into this car, if not does anyone know where i should start as in what kind os tranny and all the rest of the goodies. i know its gonna be a ball buster but i enjoy projects. also its throwin a check engine light for the maf sensor. its got a bog right off of idle and in 2nd, 3rd, and sometimes 4th, while into the gas hard, it will cut out at abour 3500rpm, its like the ignition was just shut off, but if i let off the gas it will kick back in like nothin ever happened. i disconnected the maf sensor and it quit doin it, but it was understandably guttless. the snapon scanner i used said that code could be anything from the maf sensor, map, tps, or a couple of other things. ive checked everything i could think of and have come up emptyhanded. if anyone has had this problem let me know because i dont really wanna just dump money into it blindly. thanks jason

And a standard transmission swap shouldn't be too difficult. Good luck with it.

Id start with the TPS. A faulty one will cause hesitation off the line. Providing youve done the plugs, wires, ect.
