Its cold, LT engines have problems with the number 8 cylider. Just let it warm up before you go hauling ass..You didnt say if its a z-28 or not so I am guessing. If its the v-6 I would say the same.. let it warm up before you drive..

yea...but it's always smarter to let your car get to a good temperature before taking off...in mine I always wait atleast 10 minutes before going anywhere in it.

it seems the longer i wait the higher they get... i think the highest its gotten was 3000, and thats were it stops at. and it is a v-6

I would start looking at the cooling system. Then replace the fuel filter, change the pulgs, add a can of injector cleaner in the tank. If it still does it. Get it hooked up to the computer.

does the car do it when you have it in drive with your foot on the brake? could be a vaccum leak or the idle air valve could be bad ( if the idle air valve is bad your check engine light will be on )

Dont worrie, your baby is fine my friend! start your car and go inside for 10 minutes. take it easy until you get hot air out of the heater.
