hey, i recently bought a 92 beretta, it's a great car...we get along well :)
but, if i idle at 4-5mph or lower, or come to a complete stop, it either thinks about dying, or does die. and then the only way i can get it started again is by pumping the gas while turning the key and to keep pumping the gas while i shift it into drive.
i was wondering if anyone may know what the problem is? i was thinking the idling speed may be too low...but i don't know if that could've changed over time...
thanks for any help.

Check your Idle Air Control (IAC) Valve... it's located on the throttle chamber.
You can remove it and the large air intake hose and clean everything out with carb cleaner. There is a good chance that will fix the problem, but if not, it may need to be replace.

I would also suggest looking for any vacuum leaks which would cause the engine to stall at idle.

2.2 liter
Id replace the vacuum lines, use some seafoam, clean the EGR valve and change the fuel filter, use some carb cleaner to check the intake manifold for leaks as well.

I just replaced all my vacuum lines for under 5 bucks, you can get the lines at autozone/napa/advace auto ect ect, its real easy, autozone can get you a vacuum diagram and just replace them one by one, its alot easier to run em when you do it like that.

Intake gasket can be more but id try the lines first.

Try some fuel injector cleaner first. Then check the vacuum lines.
