Yo, my car is a 1990 Geo Storm, and even though my Dad has offered to replace it with something else (the used cars he buys are almost universally in pretty bad condition, ugh), I like it too much to leave it. I'm telling you, I could strike it rich and still keep this thing in the garage somewhere.
I'm not ashamed to admit it, I'm about to turn 21 and I still can't get the hang of the manual transmission...that gas pedal is touchy, and I keep stalling out the damn thing when I'm at a complete stop...or popping the thing. Of course, I then have to start pushing down pretty hard in order to get it to really accelerate much past 40Mph...damn thing. I'll get the hang of it though.
At this point, it doesn't seem like the transmission is going to last too long with all the abuse it's getting from me.
First, I'd like to ask if anyone knows any more about the various transmissions available for my venerable little Geo, and what kind of things I can do to mess with'em (nothing like rampant mechanical tomfoolery as a method of learning! :D)...as well as any cool aftermarket bits a pieces I can install for fun...if any exist at all.
Yes, I am going to put money into this thing. Why? Because when I DO happen upon income again...it'll just be because I can. My ambition is to have the coolest Geo Storm ever...Then after that, I'm going to quit cars and buy a Vespa XD :)
Edit: Oh, and installation isn't a problem for the most part...Dad's the Assistant Director at a career school with a fully functioning auto shop. I can't push it too much, but it's there.
