have no experience with that. being realistic, if you're new to this, you won't do it in time to make your meeting.
search high and low for those keys. all else fails, ask a family member or friend to help pay for a locksmith.
i know to hot wire, you need to find the ignition wire(s) and the starter wire. i know that from installing my alarm and immobilizer, but i never actually tried to start the car like that. lots could go wrong.

1) Go to GM Dealership
2) Show proof of ownership, ID and VIN #
After GM techs lost the keys to my old Silverado after an oil change, they cut me a key in 5 mins this way. I'm not sure how far back this will work, but I'd imagine you're in luck for a 2000 Cavalier. Bet it costs less than $20.

You had to pay for the keys even though they lost them? WTF?

Not illegal if you own the car. Does it have the vats system? You could just take a hammer and screw driver and jam it in the tumbler.

Or just take a screw driver, pop the column if it has a column lock, and jam it in the ignition..............but do we know if this guy actually OWNS this car...............

If he wants to steal a cavalier, i'd let him. Hopefully it get's dumped in a river, lol. I had to do that once when my tumbler got messed up and the key wouldn't turn. I popped the cover off of the column, removed the ignition switch from the tumbler and used a screw driver. My buddy had a set up like that in his F150.

I had the same setup in my 1978 F150 4x4 lifted 4 inches...............where the ignition is in the dash..I kinda miss that truck.......ignition on the dash, bright headlight switch on the floor by the brake pedal............different.............but I want another one for the winter.
