As you may know, when GM took over Daewoo Koreea they didn't take everything they had with them. The Daewoo factory in Romania, with a maximum capacity of ~200,000 vehicles/year was not taken as part of the deal. After a long enough time, finnaly the romanian government took over the Daewoo factory from the old Daewoo, paying 60 million $ and cleaning the debts they had.
There are atleast 3 major car manufacturers interested in buying the Daewoo factory in Romania. Ford, General Motors and Renault-Nissan have sent letters to the romanian government expressing interest in acquiring Daewoo Romania. While the Renault plans are known, they simply want to expand the Dacia Logan production in Romania, both Ford and GM refused to say what their plans with Daewoo would be, saying they don't want to reveal their plans to the other bidders.
My 0.02$ ... while having Dacia Logan as a major export for the first time, the romanians could use Ford better. General Motors would just make Chevrolet models based on the same old coreean cars. I really hope Ford takes the factory and makes some nice cars there.
