i dont kno how to open the fuel door... on my sunfire i jus go there and open but on the golf its just there no lil lip 2 open the fuel door is there a switch or somthin??

Switch is probably either in the glove box or where the hood release is. I think the VWs are in the glove box though.

erm erm erm i think its 2000, its on a W plate but i dunno how to figure it out using the plate lol

Well, if you haven't found it, try reading the owner's manual if it's still in the car. Or you can just pry it open with a bar.

Try looking on the drivers door, that is where it is located on my 2005 Passat.

:dunno: i looked everywhere, all around the drivers door, close to the hood release, all around the handbreak. i have no clue where it is. :dunno:

those aqre the most f'd up places for a fuel door release I'm deff glad I'm not a vw fan

i actually owned a 95 golf III sport and the fuel door just opened when you pulled it out there was no button

On my jeep you just push on the hinge side and it pops open on the other side... Looks like it should have a release, but there's nothing...

Man... I think you'd best find out soon, could be interesting if you don't find it in time.

I had a similar problem with a Buick I rented, it opened the way General Chaos said.

Most german cars are like that. you push one side and it slides out. I was at a gas station once and a guy rented a BMW or a 300 or something like that and couldn't figure out how to open the door. He saw I had a modified car. It was a hinged door.

have you tried just pushing the door in??? Sometimes they pop open.
