The 6.0lt HSV Maloo R8 cracked a genuine 271.44km/h (168 mph). The speed was set by V8 Supercar driver Mark Skaife as a part of the attempt to break the Guinness Book of Recourtd for the highest top speed by a standard ute or pickup. The Maloo knocked off the bigger, more powerful RAM SRT-10 which was recorded at 248 km/h in 2004.
The Maloo has a 6.0lt pushrod V8 producing 297kW (like most Z series HSVs) fitted up to a T56 6 speed manual gearbox and a LSD up the back.
