Hi a newbie here hoping someone can help me solve a problem. We own a 93 Oldsmobile cutlas supreme. With a 3.1 l in it. A few weeks ago it began to shake on the highway and got progresively worse. We bought complete tune up parts and started with changing the o2 sensor on to the spark plugs and such. Once we got to the last spark plug we could not get it out, I t would not budge. So we sprayed some lube on it and let it sit a few days and were finaly able to get it out and discovered it was cracked. We changed it out and the car was in perfect running order. Now 1 week later the olds will barely start, oncee it starts it dies if you take you foot off the gas and generaly acts as if it is out of gas, yet when you have your foot on the gas all is well. :( So we took out the o2 sensor and then got a new one put in and the problem still persist's. Has anyone had similar problems ? or know how to fix this? We are very low budget but we love this car. It is the only black on black olds we have seen in this area. And it ran like new before this happened. Oh yah and the check engine light came on about a hour before it decided to play hard to get? :dunno:

Have you checked for vacuum leaks?

Definitely get that code pulled from the check engine light and find out what it is for. It could be the root of your problems.

go to andvance auto and they'll check your codes for free, they'll asume you want them to order a part though.

It sounds like fuel pressure problems. CHEck codes also that is a great place to start.

My guess, for what it's worth EGR Valve.

I got mine replaced a few years back, easy to find at wreckers (try and get a fresh one) or go new.

EGR controls oxygen and fuel to the engine. If it breaks it doesn't do either well and your engine stalls, I replaced mine about 4 years back, now the replacement is starting to cause problems, only differece is that in my '93 Olds, it has never had problems on the highway (stalling or sputering)
