I currently drive a 1998 Eagle Talon ESi. Recently I got in my car to go to work and when I backe out I noticed a problem with the brakes. They work just fine but you have to stand on the to get them to do anything. It's like having manual brakes. I have no idea why it is doing this, it has plenty of brake fluid and from what I can see the master cylinder is not leaking for that matter I can't find any leaks in the car at all.

The second problem that I am having has to do with a fuse that will not stop blowing. It is the tail lamp fuse under the hood. When it blows I loose all of my dash lights and my tail lights so needless to say this is a rather serious problem when it comes to driving at night.

If anyone has any ideas short of taking the car to a mechanic please let me know. I am rather mechanically inclined as far as working on the car goes so I would like to get this figured out and taken care of myself without involving a mechanic.

What condition are the pads and rotors in?

For th fuse, is it the proper amperage for the location? If so, you have a short somewhere causing the fuse to blow. You'll need to track that down.

The pads and the rotors are almost brand new. That was the first thing I checked on when the problem developed with the brakes.

As for tracking down the short do you have any suggestions on how to go about doing that?
