Got more problems with the Talon again.
evidently, a friend was driving it, and it suddenly died, now it wont start at all. it cranks alright, sounds like its got spark, but it sounds like the ignition timing is off by a good bit. I put a new cam sensor in, as well as crank position sensor. could use some help on this one. I think the ECU is the wrong one for this vehicle, a buddy said its from an automatic, not a manual tranny car, which may have something to do with the problem.

its a 97 Talon Esi, 2.0L non turbo motor, 5 spd.

cousin said he's had this problem twice before, and had a shop fix it, but he doesnt know what they replaced to fix the problem.

I have a 95 talon ESI 2.0, but its automatic. but i've been there, and am there. Luckily i have a father who has a 6th sense for these things, but even this ones giving him a problem. about 3 years ago it started stalling out as i was sitting at stoplights. Always started right back up. after a month of fighting with it he replaced the computer and its been golden ever since. UNTIL last week, when it shut off again, and would crank but not restart. After replacing the computer again, it stalled out, used his code reader and it read code P0403, which was EGR circuit, so he replaced that. still stalled out. replaced the fuel pump, still stalled out, noticed something sounded like an arching in the iginition coil (which, if you disconnect the cord from, will shut the car off with out reading a code... quite similar to what it had been doing) replaced that, seemed to solve the problem with it not restarting. But then after working for a weekend, as i left to go back to school, it stalled out. He thinks that possibly the new computer we got has been rebuilt and the techs might not have caught such a random problem. (ordered from a Chrysler Dealer in Centerville, OH, we were told there were only 2 in stock in the country...there, and in texas)
OK sorry, long post, the moral of the story is a "new" new computer would probably fix the problem (my sister had an older talon that had a similar problem, which a new computer fixed as well), but may be hard to come by and be a bit pricey. But then again, mine is an automatic so i may be no help at all.
