When I turn the wheels, like backing out of the driveway, I hear a clunking sound from the front end. Visually I see no problems, had the front end alligned and new shocks installed.

check your motor and transmission mounts. also, check your driveshaft (or half shafts if front drive or independent rear)

My best guess would be a torn/leaking CV boots. A loose wheel nut may be a likely culprit as well. It maybe a good start to check for your wheel bearings and CV joint (http://www.partstrain.com/ShopByDepartment/Engine/CV_Joint)s.

Does it sort of sound like "Chitty chitty bang bang"? If so, check the fuel lines, those second to bangs have GOT to be too much fuel.

Put the can in drive, with you foot on the brake give it gas. watch for engine and trans movement. do the same in reverse. if its excessive look and trans and motor mounts. if not check the front end. from above if it is a cv joint a outer will pop louder in a turn and a inner will pop or vibrate under a load from the trans. normally backing out of the drive is not enough speed to cause problems.
