Nailhead

Hey don't know if this is the place for this ? but i'm new here so bear with.....
I have a 64 Buick Riviera w/a 401 nailhead all original w/150k.The problem is it has a very annoying hollow sounding knock coming out of it especially when it is in the startup running stage. It's very hard to pin down exactly, but i've been told it may be coming from a dry wrist pin.Once it is warmed up and taken for a good drive it seems to quiet noticeably, but cold it sounds like someone is under the camshaft inspection plate rapping with a hammer to get out.Any help on this issue and where to start looking in a cost effective way would be most appreciated.I'm getting near the end on what to look at next. Some ideas will help........this car deserves to run right,i'm not to the pull it out and rebuild stage yet what with the $$$$'s to do that and all....I hope this is in the right forum catagory,if not MOST sorry fella's.
Thanxs in advance for some input......Buick Dudes,
