G'day all,
For those who were watching RPM in Aus before the WA round of the V8 Supercars may have seen that HSV and Mobil will be driving a new HSV Maloo R8 Ute around Australia with out a oil change. Mobil will be testing the oil every couple of days or so to see if it can handle lubrication hell inside the 6lt HSV built V8 around the great brown land we live in. During the trip, Mark Skaife (V8 Supercar 4 championship winner) will be attempting to break the world recourd of the worlds fastest production ute, betting the current holder, :bump: the Dodge RAM SRT10, some were out in the outback.
The Ute has no modifications to it, insteresting though, Motor Magazine 2 years ago 'raced' the clock and tryed to get around Aus in 7 days in a pair of Holden VY SS Commodores that had a 120lt fuel tank, the SS ute's 17" wheels, Holden by design bull bar (which they needed!) and 4 driving lights. They were well prepared and they made it back to Sydney. But the HSV Maloo does not have that sort of things added so this could be a little insteresting!!
