hey i've had a 1991 Buick Century Limited for a couple of years now, and its only got 50,000 km's on it and i'm looking to do some modifications to it.
so far i put on some exterior trim, new stereo/speakers, black widow alarm, window tint, K&N air filter (of course).
I'm looking to get some actual performance out of it. Anyone seen extensive mods done to a century? I've seen a few 3.8L supercharged drops installed, but has anyone done a small block chevy? can anyone recommend a mod, big or small?
edit:
here's my cardomain link

well, couple grand maybe. on an engine swap i could spend more, but my engine only has like 50k on it so i'd be better off with some other mods to improve the existing motor's performance. i dont mind spending money on quality parts..

If you have that much to spend then get a turbo for sure but you know that you will need a bunch of other things besides just a turbo such as intercooler, bigger injectors, bigger fuel pump, some kind of engine management for fuel, blow off valve....look to spend a minimum of $2,000 USD

how much will this affect the engine's life?
& can you recommend any companies who offer a turbo for my car?

hey.. on second thought.. i looked around at like every website known to man, and i can't find anything worthwhile. so my best bet at this point is cleaning my car up to look near-factory condition, selling it for as much as i can get for it, and buying either a 1987 Grand National/GNX clone or a 1969/70 Grand Sport.
That's what i have in mind.. i almost bought a 1967 Buick Riviera last year, so close in fact that i had the cheque written out, and then the moron let some kid with no licence drive it, and he wrote it off. The kid had never driven a car with a 430ci engine before and got the best of a pole and landed in someones front yard. the damage was minimal at best, but i didnt want to worry about a messed up frame, getting a new door, fender, and he tore off the exhaust system.. so i passed up on the offer..
i'm looking in the $12-15,000 range for a new buick that has serious balls.
anything out there that i missed? oh those 1950's buicks are nice too :D

yeah i definitly have my heart set on an '87 Grand National, but i'm thinking about buying some mods that I can carry over to the new car when I buy it next spring.. maybe a carputer, stereo, rims, or something along those lines.. from what i've read, the Grand National and the Century that I have share the same wheel bolt pattern (which is a plus).
any ideas folks?

I'm going to be brutally honest.
The textbook answer is that you don't modify a Buick Century.
If you are going to modify a Buick Century (especially one that old) the textbook answer is that you immediately go to the rims. (They can be sold seperately or transfered to another car if that one's engine craps out).
I don't believe in the textbook answers and I don't believe in doing what others find good looking.

Here's my car's AJAM and AMY. I've had AJAM through two accidents (one major) and over six years. Despite the rust showing through, for a car that has 268,000km and 14 Canadian winter's it's kept much of it's original beauty.
One thing that I'll always regret is not painting the rims, the car has a unique seemless window look with the tints (which BTW will cost $500 to repair on the rear window - the original owner did them, by comparison the Grand Prix will be $200 for the car), so the car's black and white, with a little red and barely any orange. I always thought white rims would look really cool, especially consider just how much wheel those rims cover. But people tell me that's not "cool" and it's not the thing to do. I guess I have news for you and everyone else out there, I'm driving the car into the ground. You don't like my minor mods, either stick it or buy me some nicer looking rims. I'm modifying the car, for me, not for some other ducheebag. I really don't care what everyone else thinks.
The Grand Prix was acquired in June/July of this year. While I like the rims, they're in the process of being swapped out for a nearly new set of GTP chrome rims from an '04. They leak and that's really the best bag for the buck. The car's a beauty, but to be honest it's not a ringer, I'm buying someone's rims who has a very, very nice and newish ride and found that an upgrade was necessary.
My two cents. Rims are the best bet for eventual recovery of money, (save yourself money and time and get a set of rims that are swapped off from a nicer GM car). If you want to make your car unique and truely you, my money's on the paint job. Keep the baby blue on the bottom and run black down the hood, right through the grille and again down the trunk and if it's legal in your state, look at some black designs on the rear lights, ovals, circles etc.

Yes, I can photoshop, better, no I don't have the time on this type of thing, and yes if you got a professional to paint it it would not look like some old dude tremcladed the car.
