The most common cause of a car shaking only at certain speeds is an imbalance problem, most likely at least one or possibly all of the wheels need to be balanced.
This is a relatively cheap repair to try first. The person balancing the wheels should also check to make sure that the wheels are not bent, and inspect the tires for any unusual wear patterns. And also rotate the tires at the same time - if needed as determined by visual wear indication.
If the car still shakes at 65 MPH after the wheels are balanced, then the next most likely culprits are a driveshaft or CV joint worn out and out of balance, or loose and / or worn out tie rods and / or ball joints, or worn out struts and / or shocks, or bad wheel aligment. You can also have the Driveshafts / CV Joints / Tie Rods / Ball Joints / Struts / Shocks / Four Wheel Alignment inspected / checked out relatively cheaply. Now, if any or all of the above forementioned need replacing - well that is a totaly different story. And then there's the remote possibility the transmission torque converter is shuddering or out of balance, if that's the case get ready to spend some serious dough.
Hope this helps
Kind Regards
John

Find a good independent repair place to go to. Don't take it to the dealer or any of those chain repair shops, they suck and they'll rip you off since it's a cadillac.
have you been rotating your tires every 6k? have you kept them properly inflated? balancing them isn't gonna do much good if your tred is all messed up

more likely the incorrect answer... but maybe it just needs oil or is running too rich "if it has a carb"

I agree with the above, wheel balancing, etc...
It could also be the brake rotors. Does it need brakes? Are the rotors rusted? Has it been sitting for a while? Maybe the rotors are pitted.
Is the engine shaking or is it shaking through the steering wheel.
If the engine is shaking/surging, it would not be any of these. But, if you feel the vibration/shake thru the steering wheel, it will be something with the wheels and/or brakes.
Good luck

could need new tires, Idler arm, center link, and steering stabilizer shock may need to be checked.

Some Cadillacs seem to be susceptible to the vibrating at around 65-75mph.
The usual fix is check your tires. If you have a vibration problem that a spin balance will not cure, then go for a Road Force Balance. The following link explaines it and has a locator button to help find one in your area.

ok brake have nothing to do with is and the tires might need rotating or just replace them. the second thing is the suspension it needs to be stiffen and gone soft from over the years. If your bumber is broken then the aerodynamic is gone and it causes the car to rock. Another is the trunk flutter and rocks the entire car. ADVICE don't get amercan cars the transmission suck get a toyota or something. can't believe a cadillac lasted that long.

seized brakes could, in fact, cause the car to vibrate. that, or warped rotors.
rotating tyres will do little to resolve a vibration issue. balance and alignment? yes.

if you mean blown shocks, then yea, they need to be replaced. however, blown shocks i don't think will cause the car to shudder. become floaty? yes.
If your bumber is broken then the aerodynamic is gone and it causes the car to rock.
sorry, but no. if you take your bumper off and drive down the road, your car will not shake. try it.

yeah, not all american cars use the same transmission. describe "suck"
yea, toyotas make good reliable A-B cars. i know mine does.
can't believe a cadillac lasted that long.
did you have a bad experience with Caddy in the past?
some of their cars are pretty nice. one in particular is amazing.

Cadillacs are one of the most reliable Americans cars.
How about shutting up when you dont't have a clue about a subject.
Have fun with your less powerful imports.

Usually the vibrating at high speed is a bad tire. Sometimes a visual inspection of the tires won't reveal a problem either so it is a bit tricky to diagnose.

american trannys are just as good as any other one, interiors aren,t the best ones, but there are worst ones out there, what screws am cars is am ppl, who for the most part have no clue about regular maintanance, watch the oil level, do a fluid filter change every year, 99% that tranny will last very long time.

my old chevy cavalier had 95k on it when i got it, i put another 50k on it, delivering pizza in the city, the worst condition for the tranny, constant stops and go, i did fluid filter change every year, even installed tranny oil cooler, it ran perfect till the moment it was totaled.
