i have an 86 olds toronado i recently put a new engine in it the problem is is that when i turn the key to start nothing happens i have power to all the lights and everything but my dash wont light up either the starter is fine i took it out and bench tested it but once i put it back in nothing happens both pos. wires have power but it still wont turn when i hit the key
any feedback would be greatly appreciated please help i want to drive her

So you tested the starter and it is fine, and you also tested the power wires to the starter and they are fine as well??

I don't see how that could be a possibility if the starter won't turn when you turn the key over. Unless the battery is dead from the car sitting, which you could tell right away from the voltage test when testing the power wires for the starter. The lights on your dash not lighting up is a good indicator the battery might be bad as well.

:stupid: there is no way that the starter is good and the wiring is correct if you turn the key and nothing happens. My guess is that the wiring has a problem even though its wired correctly it could not get getting power or enough.
