French auto maker PSA Peugeot-Citroen believes it can deliver a car with 82 miles a gallon by 2010, using hybrid diesel engines that will join two fuel-efficient technologies. “That’s the future. It combines the best of both worlds,” says Thomas Sedran, partner at Munich consultancy Roland Berger. “We believe it’s worth taking the challenge because a diesel hybrid combines the strong fuel economy of diesel with much lower carbon dioxide emissions,” says Gilles Michel, head of platforms, engineering, and purchasing at PSA Peugeot-Citroen. PSA’s hybrid diesel models cut fuel consumption by 28% and carbon dioxide emissions by 39% compared with a regular diesel model

ditto, but they had better be pretty decent cars.
and being diesels, they'd better have some nice torque ;)

I don't like Diesels that much anymore because the Diesel gas is VERY expensive up here it's even more than premium.
even if it is more expensive, how much money will you save if you get 80mpg?

If you buy a bio-diesel conversion kit ($?), supposedly you can make your own biodiesel with used vegetable oil cheaper than current price of gasoline. biodiesel powered turbodiesel hybrid FTW. Also, you could use the glycerin byproduct to make home-made soap as well.
Here is a website with a list of materials for making homebrew biodiesel.

Peugeot is SO much better than anything in it's class for america PERIOD. The fit and finish is heaven compared to america....and it's french! My uncle in Croatia has one...I want one they are lovely cars. His had rain sensors. when it rained the car would run the wipers to the exact speed that is needed by the speed the rain hits the windsheild. GM just got this technology about a year ago. My uncles Peugeot is about 10 years old now lol.
