better than the 300 srt 8, but i like the charger srt8 the most. iam not the biggest fan by anymeans, but they are still neat, and very well performing cars.

If all the srt-8's had more horsepower then I might like them. The following are faster and cheaper. Ponitac GTO, Mitsubishi Evo, Subaru Sti, Mustang GT is only alittle bit slower like .1-.2 seconds in 0-60 time.

I'am quite sure the SRT8 6.1L Hemi is rated at 425 HP (unsure of the torque, but it cannot be far off). I don't know if DC over or under rates it, but it definatly is gonna be close to those numbers.
I don't know where you got the idea that it needs more HP (factory at least). I am a HP freak, and I want 600+HP raped apes, wit that said, 425 from the factory....come on, thats pretty dang respectable, and I generally hate Daimler-Chrysler/Dodge, but I give respect where it is due.
I own 2005 Pontiac GTO, and I would feel very equal in racing a SRT8 Charger. I have read of them road testing at high 12 second 1/4 miles which is close to the 05 goats (13.1 or so). As far as the Mustang GT.......you are waaaayyyy of saying that it is only .1 - .2 sec off. The Mustangs are usually running very high 13s to mid 14s. That seems alot farther off than .1 - .2 sec in relation to a high 12 sec quarter.
The main culprit to these cars not reaching thier full potential is their race weight. For one, they are all functional sedans. What do you expect. I will not be surprised at all to see these cars dabbling in the mid 12s with some substanial weight reductions.
Now the normal 5.7L Hemi......you better watch out :angryfire :Chevy:

Dodge HP ratings are way off if you take them to the dyno 5.7L Ram hemi supposed to have 345 dynoed at 281.4HP. So the srt-8's are around 385HP dynoed. And there 0-60 time is in the low 5's which with a very good driver give you at best 12.9 1/4 time. You must be crappy driver if you own a 2005 GTO and get beat by a SRT-8 seriously.

you are either an idiot, or very misinformed. here, ill give you some numbers and you do that math and figured it out.....if you need any help, just ask.
2005 GTO 1/4 times...................average 13.1
2006 SRT 8 Charger 1/4 times..........what you just said, which is correct 12.9
hmmmm........yea i guess the GTO should win no matter what huh......seems like a pretty close race to me.......come on now think before you post.

actually if a 5.7L 345 HP truck dynoed at 281 HP, he is just about perfect. There is something called drivetrain loss. It is usually figured at 18% HP lost on its way to the wheels. here, ill help....... 345 x .18 (18% for the layman) = 62.1 HP. 345-62.1 = 282.9 HP
282 H.P. is pretty close to 281, so yea, thats about right. once again, please do some research before posting bogus info on here.

What I don't understand is how a GTO with a 0-60 time of 4.7seconds get beat in the 1/4 by a car with a 5.1-5.3 0-60 time. Not going to argue with you I know you know your cars but it doesn't make sense.

0-60 times is not a 100% direct reflection of a vehicles 1/4 time. there are so many factors that play into things like this such as gearing, camshafts, etc etc.
also, what happened here, is that you read about the srt8s 0-60 times in one magazine or website which gives it a 5.1 second, and i can gaurentee you that another magazine or website can pull a better number.
i have read of the 05 GTOs getting 5.5 0-60 times! its all different drivers, different altitudes and weather (big factor), and all kinds of stuff.
i could go slap a g tech on my gto tonight when its lets say 40 degrees out.....record a couple of 4.8 0-60 times let say, and then go do it again tommorow afternoon when its 65 out and only get a best of 5.2.
kinda see what iam saying.
basically to sum up the two vehicles :
they are both heavy pigs, but the srt 8 charger/300/magnum is heavier though which in turn slows it a bit down in relation to the GTO (but mind you the GTO is about 4000 pounds in street trim)
they both have lots of HP from the factory, but the srt8s have a tad more
they will be giving each other equal matches.....mainly its gonna be a drivers race....unless its a roll from 70 mph +, and then the GTO (m6 tranny) should be the winner easily.

I got the 0-60 times from the dodge website and every magazine that I have read that reviewed the 05 GTO did 0-60 under 5seconds. But you own one so I'll take your word for it.

oh, go to ls2gto.com and just ask.........you will get all the "real life" answers you want. there are plenty of goats running 5.3 or so 0-60 times, and there are plenty running high 4s.
here are some links with times

the srt8s run mid 13s stock. I like the ground effects on em.
I wouldn't have waited on buying the R/T if I would have known the SRT8 was on it's way but it's a nice freakin ride that'll blow mine away at this point. Evenb with headers, exhaust, a CAI and a reflashing of the computer, I'm runnin high 14s. It'ss be this way till a reprogrammer is available.

if they weren't all auto's I'd take one, but due to the fact they only come in auto I would never purchase one...It's too bad because the srt-8 charger is sexy as hell

strange they'd cut their profits in hald by makin em all not only automatics but with a crappy mercedes tranny that highly limits the performance of the car.
go figure.

Can't wait for the Callenger SRT-8. Same 425 HP if not MORE, and a 6-speed manual. THAT is gonna kick some serious butt.

I heard its going to have a 6.4L Hemi that will produce very close or over 500HP. So no matter if it weighs 3800-4000pounds its going to move.

the SXT will have 340hp, the R/T will have 425hp and the SRT will boast 505hp bone freakin stock.
