i would like to put a chip and exhaust on my 1998 eclipse gs ne good brands?

Dont even worry about a chip thats a waste of money. Exhaust id go with eather a Apexi or a Greddy. Ive got a greddy 4-2-1 ceramic header, test pipe and a full greddy evo2 stainless cat back. It sounds nice. let me know if you want to know what it sounds like ill DL a sound clip.

why is a chip a waste of money? you car stock is designed for economy, the computer isn't made for all out performance. a chip might not get the best gain, but it's still an important part

Greddy SP systems are good. the only problem is that they start rusting out after around 2 years; i'm not the only one who knows this.

Dynomax & Magnaflow are awesome mufflers, and almost never disappoint, but i don't know if they make systems for eclipses.

I had a Bosal/Brospeed on my 97. Sound was great and had dual 3 1/2 inch rolled tips. It was only a 2.25" pipe, quality was good, fit was perfect. Had it on for 4 years , just had a little rust on the welds. Think i am going to go with a bosal dual tip for the subaru too.I just put on a bosal shorty down pipe on it, nice piece.
