Hey All -

I have a VW Jetta96... i want to replace my speedometer... i am getting a used speedometer from a junk yard... and trying to replace it...

1. How do I set the Odometer reading to the present Odometer reading... Will the guys sells it will do it or the mechanic whom I approach it shd do ..or Shd I find some one to do it??

2. How big process is it to get it replaced..i know u have to remove ur Dash n then replace it ... is it very big process... or its kind of a process that can be done ...

Is the speedometer in your vehicle separate from the rest of the cluster? If not you'll have to replace the entire cluster, and it should just be a direct swap in, minus the odometer if it is the older style rolling odometer. I'm not sure where you'll have to go to get that fixed, most likely the dealer. You might want to provide them with some sort of proof before you take it however.
