It's official, the GTO production will stop at the end of the year. GM will produce 10,000 to 12,000 more GTOs before dropping the name. A Pontiac spokesperson confirmed that the GTO will be discontinued late this year, with the last deliveries to dealers taking place in September.

I think there is something better coming along.. I read it in an industry exclusive magazine we get at work, something in the 450hp range, and an old name dusted off.

lets hope so the gto had decent looks and it moved good with a fairly decent price, I do hope there's something else coming in the mix

Well, the GTO was only brought over from Australia to fill the gap created by the elimination of tha Camaro and Firebird from the lineup. It served it's purpose. If they come back with another version, it may compete in a different segment. But it does open it up for something like a Buick Grand National or a Chevelle or something. I think it's just to keep from drawing any attention away from the upcoming reintroduction of the Camaro.
sad to see it go but you never what if anything they'll replace it with
