There are several sources reporting that the new Challenger will be limited production and only available with a manual transmission and HEMI V8. I guess Dodge is going more for an American Exotic / Super Car than a production vehicle, which may not be a bad idea. I am just suprised because I was almost positive it would be a major production vehicle. I guess time will tell

I don't really like that idea, personally.... I'd rather see it a reg. prod. vehicle as it once was.

No I like it as a production it could challenge the corvette for the best sports car under 50K. Also it would be a better option than the 75K+ Viper

If its is going to be limited production it better have serious engine. I'm talking about the 6.4L Hemi I have heard rumors about that puts out around 500HP.

Could it mean they trying to get enough production numbers to get the car homlagated for racing?

See now if this was 1970 that would be a man's car.. but now.. as far as a race car goes.. it's an inconsitant race car.. it will be a rubber burning machine that is for sure.

Retro 'Dukes of Hazzard' anyone? However, need a retro 440R/T Charger. Ah well

It'd be possible to build one with a truck engine and a stroker kit.. and hell, there are some very efficent mopar heads out there now.

I hate to say it, but seeing the challenger's profile and body lines, I feel cheated by the retro camaro. eh well

I think it would be an AWSOME idea if the used the Challenger as the next "NASCAR" homologation special and limited production using the 500+ HP race 392 Hemi and 6-speed gearbox. Sign me up right now.

Thats the rumor I have been hearing that a pricey challenger over 45k will have that motor but it would be tuned down alittle.

Should be easy enough to tune it back up. I'm excited and hope they actually do it.

What does it really put out. Someone told it put out around 550-600HP and they were going to lower it 500HP.

I heard the new 392 Hemi was good for 700+HP, but that out of the crate it would be closer to 625. Detuning it to 500 to take on the GT500 sounds like a good idea. Then guy slike me can tune it back up, add a little juice, and kick some GT500 ass. Otherwise, the CHallenger won't be much of a challenge for it's Ford competition. The Camaro on the other hand, unless they price it below $35K, will be depressingly underpowered in comparison.

Well the 6.1L Challenger would be fine competition for the GT500 is they could keep its weight to around 3500-3600pounds. BUt I don't see that happening.

They could race it in a production car series were a certin number of cars have to be built before they are aloud to race. AKA 'Group N' or a GT series

Auto's suck for street performance cars. There are instances where an auto makes more sense, but for performance driving on the street? An auto is a waste of time. It's not like the GT500 or Z06 will be available with an auto...

any1 els see the pics floating around i what i seen kinda looked like a diablo but pudge ...i kinda dont like the fact they bring'in back the old names when they look nothing alike and usualy dont have anything in common thats just my opinion like the charger... A FLIPIN SADAN!!!!! A SADAN!!! its all wrong for the once proud muscle...A SADAN!!!

Well, I would certainly hopw it would be a mass produstion vechicle with more drivtrain options. I mean, in my opinion, the Charger just isnt up to par with the new Mustang. The retro styling of the Mustang and the plain-Jane "new Dodge" look of the Charger just dont have any competiton between eachother. The Mustang takes the win in that category, no problem. Now, the retro styling of the new Challenger would be a good competitor for the Mustang. Making the Challenger a limited production car and keeping the Charger as a mass production project without re-styling it would be an extremely bad move on Dodges part.

Yeah, I know. Last year's Chicaho autoshow, I asked one of the Dodge reps about why they weren't making a 2 door version and he was like, "Well, we have to appeal to everybody." and look kinda miffed at the question. I irritated him even further by saying, "Yeah, well.... if you guys are only making a four-door version, that won't "appeal to everybody" now, would it?" ;)
But that's why they're bringing out the Charger. I think that car looks a hell of a lot better than the Challenger. And it's about time the Dodge division gets into the performance sports coupe segment again with a more affordable vehicle. Not everyone has the money to cough up for a Viper.

thank you, not having an auto makes 10 times more sense than having an auto. people just need to learn how to drive, or drive cars that are more suitable to their skill level
