Does anyone know WHO came up with that radio in the Taurus? The big circle? I dont know if it's still being used, but it's in the 96s and up a little ways... I like the looks of the rest of the car, but what the heck? Is it possible to take that out even? If you were to put an aftermarket CD player in there it would just sit in the bottum of a big hole? :dunno: :dunno:

Wow....not sure why they would design it that way. I'll look around and see if there is a way you can change that out, but I am doubting it from the looks of the design.

Dear god that is awful. I'm so sorry, you seem to be stuck with that. :eyeroll:

There would be a lot of custom work and fabrication involved in replacing that unit.... the only thing I could see creating a new piece in fiberglass to fit that exact circle. Then you'd have to cut out the A/C Controls and mold them into the new piece, and put an aftermarket deck on top of that.
Beyond that, I think you're stuck. Sorry :(

It is very possible to do and there is an aftermarket company that manufactures them. I had a pioneer system put in my car at Circuit City. Here's the hitch. The piece costs about $90 because the vacuum regulated climate control system is integrated with the sound system. So you are getting more than just the frame. dont forget to mention you have a/c and rear window defroster if applicable. :woot:
