Here are some pictures and a little bit of information about the different engine options that will be available:

Three models are available: Dodge Nitro, Dodge Nitro SLT and Dodge Nitro R/T. Available on the Dodge Nitro and Dodge Nitro SLT is a 3.7-liter SOHC V-6 engine. It produces 210 hp (157 kW) @ 5,200 rpm and 235 lb.-ft. (319 Nm) @ 4,000 rpm. The Dodge Nitro R/T features a new 4.0-liter V-6 engine that delivers 255 hp (190 kW) @ 5,800 rpm and 275 lb.-ft. torque (360 Nm) @ 4,000 rpm. Standard on the Dodge Nitro R/T and optional on the Nitro SLT is a new performance suspension and 20-inch tires and chrome-clad aluminum wheels, providing performance-oriented drivers with fun-to-drive handling and a firm ride.

as with most current Dodge designs....it needs the black paint to mute it's lines a bit.

Biggest problem i have with it is the engine. I don't think Chrysler could design a less fuel efficient engine if they intended to. So, I ask simply what the story is with the new 3.8L V6 from the 2007 Wrangler, and why they aren't using that one....

The main engine that I was told (my brother in-law works for Jeep) is that they expect to sell a bunch of CRD diesels in those trucks for the "Ecological" crowd.

the diesel is a quality engine, yes, but the 3.7L used in the Liberty is the standard engine in this "compact SUV" which provides an average of about 17mpg in the real world. diesel engines are still far from popular and will probably account for a relatively low percentage of total sales...just as they do in the Liberty. DCX needs a more fuel efficient standard.

You mean like GM?

I heard the new Camaro will have 400 HP and get 30 mpg.

Well I guess this thing won't be seeing a HEMI anytime soon. Dodge said they have no plans of putting a V8 in place :(

it's too small for that. Again, this is just a slightly enlarged Jeep Liberty.

Best feature seen on this truck (as unveiled at Chicago) is the cargo area floor, mounted on rails to allow it to slide back to ease loading and unloading. Oh, and it'll support some 400 pounds.
