Have 1994 Ford Escort wagon with a puzzling problem. Ran fine. Then quit going down the road. Sat for a few minutes and then started up again. Later that day it started right up and went about a mile and quit again. All power cut out. Started again in about 10 minutes. Ran fine with the heater off. As soon as the heater was turned on again it quit running. Lights, horn and interior lights work. Nothing in the instrument panel works. Now it will not start at all. The altanator was replaced. Yet the car does not turn over. When checking the fuses it appears that the power steering fluid had somehow gotten on the wires inside the car by the fuse panel located left of the steering wheel. Does anyone have a clue what is going on with this car? Could it be possible that it is a computer problem? or an ignition problem? Friends have said it sounds like a wiring problem since the radio didn't work and would reset the clock every time the car was turned off and then on again. I need some good knowledgable help. Thanks

That definitely sounds like an electrical issue. I would take it in and have a mechanic look at it if you are not too familiary with automotive troubleshooting, as there are a lot of things that could be causing this problem.

this is just a guess, but I'm guessing the heater fan is shorting your electrical system, given the description.
