I have an S60 which I have had for three years and it is coming off of lease. With 14K miles on it, it is a cream puff and I have, up until this week, planned on buying it off lease, as it is one of the best "used cars," out there.
EXCEPT! Within the past month, the alarm system has been randomly activating itself, making me persona non grata among my neighbors. I receive 3AM phone calls demanding that I silence the thing. I understand. I sleep in the back part of my home and cannot hear the bedlam from the street.
My local Volvo dealer claims that he can do nothing, under warranty or not, because the mechanics have to be on site when the thing fires up.
I must leave the car unlocked at all times.......something I would rather not do.
It appears to me that the received could be replaced with another frequency, or something. Otherwise, as I turn in the car, Volvo will be faced with the problem, or, more likely will sell the car at auction to an unsuspecting buyer.
Thoughts?
