1990 dodge colt gl auto transmission won't go in any forward gears but does have reverse. I've never pulled a transmission apart. Does anyone have any suggestions what to look for.

it's an auto.. you're better off buying a new transmission, as rebuilding one isn't for beginners.

if you do want to do this anyway, get a good camera and take pictures of each step of dissassembly as well as a shop manual for said transmission.

that said, many things could cause what your experiancing. so many in fact that without more information we can't diagnose the problem and hence tell you what to look for.
