Well, to start it's a stylistic nightmare.

Here's a list of better options for you:

Audi S4 Cabrio
Audi A4 Cabrio
Mercedes CLK
BMW 3 series convertible

The only one you really need to worry about is the S4, however. It's beautiful, has incredible performance, and doesn't look like a catfish.

none of those cars are in the same class at all..

he would want something like a merc SL, caddy XLR, 6 series convertible or etc..

the sc430 is a good car, very reliable except for the electrical issues that most lexus's are prone to.. they look really good when lowered with 19 or 20 inch wheels.. dont get any color other thsn white or black..

Nice car but feels a little plain to drive. Makes a nice sound. No room in the back for anything oher than a fluffy lap dog. Can got one for good deal pre owned. If you are looking new then as above, look at the 645cic, 911 cab, sl500, and I suppose even the M3cic and the CLK 500 as another option.
Good luck.

The styling is love or hate, get over that and its a good car.

I don't like the insides... Especially the natural wood. It has a nasty yellowish tint that gets on my last nerve.

The reliability is good, likely best in class unless except maybe the XLR, which I have no idea about.

The cleanest car with the top down, I don't think I know of a car that clears the issues of a top down car better.

The car has more character than a Supra as far as exhaust note and such.

If you are considering a SC430, they it is the car you want. Simply you do or you don't want the car. Test drive the competition.

the Caddy, 645, and SL are all rather more expensive, aren't they?

I still say take a peek at the S4.

The S4 is out of the league though...

I agree that it's out of the League...but only because it embarasses the Lexus so. It's faster, better looking, better handling, more interior room, awd, more exclusive, transmission is better (manual is available, isn't it? not to mention the DSG or SMG or whatever Audi has.

i dont believe its better looking, but of course that is my opinion, the two cars dont match up in my opinion simply because i believe both are aimed at different consumer bases.

Lexus SC430 is a great car.
If I have enough money for it, I wouldn't hesitate buying it.
It's a gorgeous looking car, comfortable, reliable and very nice interior.

I havn't seen this thread in almost 2 years. I think the car looks unique when lowered and on rims. Looks expensive and exclusive.
