Spy Shots: ’06 Mazda Miata
Will the rotary come to the roadster or vice versa?

The next generation of Mazda's Miata, one of the world's best-selling roadsters, is due in late 2005 or early 2006. The first Miata came on the market in 1989 in Japan and later to the U.S. and Europe, where it became also a great success.
Here are photos of a first prototype mule of the current Miata's successor during tests at Germany's Nürburgring. To judge from the prototype's front end, the new model is likely to resemble the RX-8, with a styling only moderately like last year's Ibuki concept car.

Test mule or not, that thing looks downright retarded with an RX8 front end slapped on a Miata body.

Need I say more?
well yes, I loathe miatas but when I heard about a stock turbo model, I sorta had to like the damn cars, putting a renesis rotary in it would only gain it more respect. I hope they do put the rotary in there.

Guys, please. It's a hacked current Miata rear mated with a hacked RX-8 front end. The final version is not going to look like this.

It should. If they can get a Ford V8 in there, a V6 should fit just as easily.

I'm sure it'll be badass-- an RX7 convertible if you will.
Rotary won't go into the Miata. That's what the RX model is for. Maybe they are trying out an RX-8 convertible.

thats definitely one of the first test cars they've run, cuz it looks like parts of it are held together w/ duct tape... but it looks like once it hits production it will be a really good looking and powerful car.

Yeah, I just hope the front end they use looks better than than what's on there now. :)
