Saw this 2 weeks ago at Toronto show, as a "halo car" for Mitsubishi(EVO VIII is not sold in Canada for not passing Canadian's 5mph bumper test, US requires only 2.5mph, and Evo obviously has the problem with the intercooler IN the bumper making a fix difficult....)....anyhow, it doesn't have the wing like a regular one OR no wing like the new RS....

Thats the wing that comes on the base lancers here in the states and is an option on evolutions if you dont want the big wing.

why? the big wing is definitely unrice, and even if it is...its been done this way since the very early on (the 3?)

and this is just going to be even less functional, and even uglier IMO

I've never saw a good pic of the EVO with that spoiler. The auto ones in Japan come with them right?...

I like that wing on it... It works well with the flaired shoulders. I don't mind the large wing either... Though I've never read that it was functional I often hear complaints without it.

Either way.. EVO > anything new under 50k.

I did read somewhere that the Evo RS felt more squirelly at higher speeds vs the regular Evo and they thought that it was attributable to the wing.

I'd definitely think so.....as clearly evo is like a nose heavy FWD car....the wing should help their underlying stability issue...

It does look like a standard issue 20k Lander with that wing on it... need that other one.

True Lotus, the M3 is hotness... It'd be a hard call to make between the EVO or M3, for me anyway... I guess I'd have to say EVO because I'd take a M coupe over an M3 and a EVO over an M coupe. The BMW is, a little to perfect while the EVO has much more aftermarket room, plus it is cheaper. I'd get an BMW to go with an EVO I guess.

I don't see much of a competition b/w the M3 & EVO. They really appeal to a totally different demo. I think I'd get an S2000 with Comptech Supercharger kit (puts output to something like 340 HP) over an EVO.

You are right... of course I just threw the shot out thurr... Based on performance. If I were in the market for an M3 or a EVO I'd consider both...

And that S2K costs 70K USD

I rememeber C&D doing that tuner shootout thing for the "import" crowd....and the Evos were by far the best values...

Yes, the Evo looks really ugly with that small wing...anyways it was sport compact car that said the Evo RS which has no wing felt unsteady at high speeds. The big wing although technically an option is really standard and is considered more a delete option in which case they stick on the small wing, although Mitsubishi highly recommends the large wing for stability reasons.
