Drove a friend's Subaru WRX STi. We traded cars for about a week.

That thing is awesome. I was very impressed with the way it drove. He had done some modifications to it, but I can imagine it being fantastic even in stock trim. Incredibly agile and quick. Anyone have one of these things?

Cheers

Kick ass car, you can surley tell the sheer power diffrince vs the EVO. IF you really like the car, check out EVO though.

My uncle has a few Subaru dealerships on the east coast (www.danperkins.com)-- I'm in San Diego now for a wedding and'll see him- if you're interested I can see if he has one for immediate delivery for you...

My best friend has a WRX and absolutely loves it- the interior feels cheap but what do you expect from a Sub 25k sports car with a big engine; they have to cheap out on something.. Great car, unbeatable in the winter.

It was rather interesting when one time we have 5 people in it going sideway on public road....

Kenny,

Thanks for the offer! I'm mulling it over, but I was definitely very impressed with the car. Loads of fun.

Cheers

What did you trade it with? A ferarri  ?!! Btw i think you should try the Evo VIII. I heard it's milestone better and faster. I read in evo Magzine even a Prodrive Impreza with 300bhp cant catch beat a stock 280bhp Evo VIII on the race track.

During one of the runs I did. I let him take the Ferrari for the morning while I blasted around in his pimpin' Subaru. At the end of the day I traded my Corvette with him because the Ferrari had to be shipped. It was a good 1 week test drive.

Cheers

Cool. I heard good things about both the EVO and WRX. Is the EVO under rated by any chance? Huge difference in weight?

Yeah the evo is underrated in my books. While the scoobies are overrated just because of their flat 4 lump and AWD. The veo better them in every single aspect and more.

For the US spec cars the Evo is less powerful than the Subaru but in the end the Evo makes up for it on a track because of its better handling (its faster on road and off). Its also easier to get more power out of the Evo because it doesn't have drive by wire throttle so the electronics aren't as finicky.

The Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VIII is easier to get the best from.

The Evo is awesome but Ive heard of some bad things about its reliability already, it is basically a DSM after all ;). The other thing that scares me about it is that its at 19psi stock. Although it is still very modable. Theres already ones with well over 500whp running around.

Well, I can't tell about Evo's reliability. I know that the regular Lancer is very reliable.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the reliabilty of the car, the only people who complain about the reliability are those who drag and are constantly dumping the clutch.

And its hardly a DSM...

WTF? 500 RWHP? That's just totally sick! :)

Heh its not that hard either. This guy at a local shop threw on a GT3040 on an other wise COMPLETELY stock car and pulled like 330 whp. Imagine that with ins and outs and tuned. They are bad ass cars, no question.
