If the new Acura TL spawns a Type-S performance edition soon, it might carry some of the fancy features displayed on the TL A-Spec concept shown in L.A. The concept rides on a track two inches wider than the stock TL, and is shod with 21-inch wheels and a high-flow exhaust system that boosts its 3.2-liter V-6 to more than 300 hp. A panoramic glass sunroof opens the red-leather interior to the sun, and the new rear end gets restyled taillamps and a spoiler. Brembo brakes with eight-piston calipers and Adaptive Cruise Control round out the package.

ken, agreed! very nice fwd ride tho. awd or rwd would make it exponentially better. not a fan of fwd rides, but i love this car

That front end is bothersome... Those wheels are huge, makes the car sit real high. Other than that and the FWD, looks good.

LOL@Acura. You have to have some nerve to give a car that looks like that only 300hp. Too bad the move is pure Acura, though. If this goes into production the concept will be castrated anyway and shit will end up being a TL-S with 17inch spinners.

Other than the NSX, which is as foreign to the marque as the W12 would have been to VW, Acura=lamest brand outside of Lexus. Lexus, tehehe.

zaunallah: but lol@300hp fwd
zaunallah: shit is asking to torque steer yourself into mediocrity

Even if the car has torque steer under control is could never be anythiing in the twisites that the competition is. FWD + 300hp = ruined steering feel. I'm sure it inspires no confidence at all.

the production version will not have 300 hp or those huge wheels. same engine, 270 hp. it will be available in 04

A spec = Honda Factory Performance for Acura not Type S. TL Type S probably will be AWD.

It remains to be seen what or if they plan to drop the Type S moniker across the model line. However, A spec is not its replacement.

maybe so, but acura has said on more then one occasion there will not be a type s, just the a spec which really does spank the former type s. frankly, the new tl wven non a spec spanks the last type s. well see if they change their minds i guess.

The new TL is basically the next gernation Type S. With the TSX it seems stupid to have a smaller engined TL, thus why we have the one we have.

Anyway, Acura is silly...

Whats with the huge grills? They're trying to be bently or something like that?

those huge grilles are just on this concept to draw attention to the car. the prod model wont have these and will essentially have the same front end as the regular tl

The front is huge. Not sure if I like it. I like the interior though. Gallery of pics at:

That entire body is pretty busy. Hopefully it'll shed a few layers when it moves from concept to production.
