Well today was awesome. I dressed up to look like a stuck up rich snob,a nd went to Herb Chambers( BMW, Porsche, Mini, Inifinti, etc...). I oringlaly went down to see a murcie they had there, but it was gone. SO I looked at a GT2, GT3 fre turbos, quite a few 03 M5's, M3's a Z8 and an Alpina Z8. Well I was sitting down in a new M45 and a salesmen comes over. Does the usual salesmen stuff, and the bull shit began to run out of my mouth. I own an M5, I'm an Electrical engineer and some other random crap. SO we go over to his desk, talk some, then asks if I want to test drive one. So i say "sure", he takes my license and come back with a dealer plate, and says lets go to the roof to get one. We go up to a FX35. He drives it out of the lot since it was a mess. Then a little around town, just so I can get aquianted with everything in it. Very cool SUV. The seats were comfortable, and the lumbar support owned on it. Decent sounding radio, and other little gadgets that amused my astounded ass. So then we pull over and swap seats. After getting in it, what a sweet ride. It rode very nicely, and drove well. Tight steering, decent acceleration, and ill-matic break. Apparently stops 70-0 in one foot more then a 911 turbo. So I take it out on the highway, and beat on it a little, and it went along well. So as we are going back,a nd tlaking about the ride, I made some mentions to how the V8 is probably quicker. So he goes why don't we go take that one out too. Well I did, and I gotta say thats fast for a truck. 0-60 in 6.3 seconds, 315 hp, it was ill-matic. The manu-matic tranny was cool too. Took some getting used to, and i loved it. Makes me wish I drove a standard more.

When your everyday car is a J-Body, any car will be illmatic. LOL@u using it as a sig now as if the car isn't as stank as Dylan's Twin-Turbo Murano.

I wonder why a salesman puts you in a SUV when you say you own a M5.

The Murano and FX are on the same platform, but share a different drivetrain, body, and well, a lot more as well. But because they are on the same platform, massive profits arrise, hence Nissan/Infiniti being the company with the largest profit margin. My uncle got an FX...very nice...and very responsive..the Murano is in the same ball park with handling and driver response, but that extra 70 hp def does make a difference.

Actually I got an L-body:) But I was the one that choose the FX, mostly because I was familiar with anything in their line other then the G35. ANd I wanted to drive an SUV more.

Being a Nissan guy I'd expect better from you heh....Murano is bot based on the same platform as the FXs. As much as they are alike they are quite different. Murano is FF-L based car(FF being selfexplainatory, L is long wheelbase/large car). The platform hosts Maxima, Altima and the new Quest. All of which are made in USA. FX is based on the FM(front-midship, as if Nissan hasn't told all the living being in the world on that one), albeit a modified one with the standard front multi-link suspension replaced with a McPhearson Strut for the V8 clearance. This platform hosts G35 Sedan/Coupe, Nissan 350Z(shorten wheelbase version), and in Japan the Stagea Wagon.
All of these car all share the VQ35DE, albeit in various state of tune, with FX45 having a V8.
FF-L and FM consists of about 1/2 of all Nissan's lineup....

Porsche has the profit-margin title? I'm surprised, but then again, I guess they do shit like charge like $4k for air conditioning in a Boxter...

If you like the V8 save some money and get better gas mileage to boot and put the Stillen supercharger on the FX35. It is 380 hp and 0-60 in 5.7 secs. The only other SUV quicker is the Porche Cayenne twin turbo at more then twice the price.
