Mitsubishi is looking to wrestle the fugly crown away from Pontiac. The new Lancer [not evo] has a front-end like the Diamante which apparently is their new company face.

I thought I read someplace that the Diamante was getting the ax this year...

I thought so as well, but apparently not. BTW, Mitsu wants to sell 100k Galants a year [good luck.] It'll come with a 160hp 4 and a 230hp 6.

Is it just me or has Japanese design as a whole really gone down-hill in the past 5 years or so?

All of them have too much bubble, and not enough car.

Diamante looks like a Camry with a conservative body kit... acceptable nonetheless.

Galant looks like a Toyota Avensis...

Totally uninteresting designs...
