"One of the special highlights of the SUGO round will be provided courtesy of the NISMO team. Competition has been hard for them since the beginning of the season, having to fight for points with modified 2001 versions of the Skyline GT-R for the first couple of races. Even so, the Nos.23 and 22 cars finished sixth and seventh, respectively, in the second round. But the difference in the performance of the NISMO cars against the rivaling Hondas and Toyotas was obvious.
Things are set to change though, as the team officially announced that it will race a new 2002 version of the Skyline GT-Rs complete with a new twin-turbo V6 engine at SUGO. The Nissan people have high expectations for the new engine, and SUGO will be the first racing experience for it. Only one new car will debut at SUGO, however, being introduced as the No.22 car."
