he will be racing aginst craig paisley aka second worlds fastest supra

this will be a great proud day for toyota and supra lovers everywhere if he does get into the sevens which i am sure he will cause well his supra was the first ever toyota to run into the 10's when he first built the car and this guy pushes things to the limit and as it says in the article he has gotten as low as 8.03.

Here's where I talk about Voodoo Chile's street-driven (lots) Dodge which weighs 2900 pounds and runs 6.6x@21x in the 1/4 mile. When I say street driven, I mean just that, because he races it mostly on the street for money... all the Supra guys are afraid of him, because he's shown up three times with his car to challenge the big-mouthed dyno whores and after running a 9.something, shutting off the throttle at the 1/8th (sandbagging!), they wanted no part of him. In typical Suprafreak fashion, it hasn't stopped them talking smack, of course. He's got a nitrous-charged '69 Barracuda that runs 9.1x on the motor alone, too.

Voodoo dislikes the Supra freaks so much he bought a Supra and has shoehorned a Lyshom-blown 572 Hemi-headed mill into the engine bay. That car should be on the streets this summer. :D

Vinny's car is impressive? Actually, it's a textbook reason why not to choose a Supra, when you could go high 6s in a semi-streetable turbo Mustang or something of that nature.

BTW, according to Voodoo, the group he hangs out with is fairly large, and on any given weekend he can find six cars parked on either side of his that can give him a decent run for his money. So... well, sorry Vinny, the work is impressive, but the car ain't.

Oh, uhm, I'm not joking (http://www.ls1.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=82219&pagenumber=3).

So, the line of reasoning here is that if it's not the fastest, it sucks cock? So, Shaman, what's your excuse for having such a slow race car? I mean, strap a nice 200hp engine in an old formula atlantic and somebody could kick your ass for less than $10,000...what's that, a fourth of what you invested in your car? Or get an old FC or AE86, slap a 302 in them, some slicks and suspension work and run laps around you for $15,000.

Anyway... I guess I can admire the whole "I wanna be king of Supra" stand point. However if you are out there for the thrill of the 1/4 mile. There are better ways...

I'd like to see that HEMI Supra...

persid, I'll let you know if I decide to do a balls-out tubbed and tubed race car like Vinny, and if I do I won't be going high 7s, that's kid's stuff for the money and time he has in that car.

Right, 7s are kid's stuff...ever think of how hard developing an untested car is? I don't see anyone being as fast as him using the same equipment. Why don't you take a brand new design and try to run instant 7s with it?

It is pretty damn impressive considering how truely fast that is, but on the grand scale of things its really not. I mean there are FWD cars out there pulling 7s with less HP. Again not taking anything away from the achievement just pointing out that the Supra isnt the greatest dragger.

so hes a illegal racer that just proves not only his stupidity but the fact that his times are not official

hmm thats why he is highly regard as one of the greatest import drag racers around along with the likes of craig paisley lisa kubo etc.

when you could go high 6s in a semi-streetable turbo Mustang or something of that nature.

hmm the only cars ive seen that can do quarter mile times that low are funny cars i never knew such huge cars that can go over 300mph are street legal.

BTW, according to Voodoo, the group he hangs out with is fairly large, and on any given weekend he can find six cars parked on either side of his that can give him a decent run for his money. So... well, sorry Vinny, the work is impressive, but the car ain't.

I could drive an hour in almost any direction from my house and lay my hands on a number of 8 second street cars that truly fit the definition of "street".

I know a number of guys who have 7 second cars that are driven on the street. They're not stripped-down, rebodied cars like Vinny's, they have interiors and a frame. Louis Custodio is my favourite example, runs 7.7x@18x on juice, 8.80s without. He drives his car ('68 Camaro) on the road fairly regularly, with its full interior, dash and back seats. It sounds like a freight train coming. It doesn't look stock (chute assembly, quick shutdown and electrics hookup in the rear, full cage), but it's not rebodied and it's not obviously tubbed.

And yeah, Persid. I could commission a chassis and engine built tomorrow and run sixes all day long if I wanted to. Hell, I could even make it look like a Supra, like HKS did when they built their Supra sled with a Lexus V8 in it. You act like it's something hard to attain - it's hard to compete with the rules, etc. but it's not hard to attain unless you have a 2JZGTE under the hood. ;)

Nogger

dude. 8 second cars don't exactly grow on trees. I doubt you have no problem finding easily Streetlegal 8 second cars near you.

Right Shaman...in Alberta, there are only 3 street cars which run under 10 seconds...all three of them are in mid 9s. And none of them are even considered as daily drivers in anyone's wildest dreams. Yet, you're saying that there are a dozen FASTER cars being driven DAILY an HOUR away from you? And not only are they faster, they're 2 seconds faster? Something doesn't add up here...but hey, I guess it's possible.

And you didn't understand my comment. I know anyone can buy a tested chassis and a tested engine, put them together and run fast. That's totally besides the point. How do you think people got to this stage? Because of guys like Vinny who were the pioneers, taking new equipment and doing new stuff with it. THAT is the point.

Shaman

Oh man, are you in a depressed area. There are 8 second cars everywhere around here. Anything older than 20 years that isn't a showboat pretty much should be eyed with extreme caution around here. Maybe they just don't bring them out for little tracks, persid? Damn if I know.

I'm not ignoring, I'm disagreeing. If he wanted to go 7s, he could have done it easier, earlier and cheaper.

If everyone would agree with you, Shaman, there would be only one class in drag racing, only one class in road racing etc. There would be no rules, only thing that would matter would be who is the fastests.

Your bias against Supra is getting trollish. Actually, now that I think back, it always has been. Let it go.
