Yes, I am insane. I went to a two-day autocross school one day before my first exam :) Plus, the radiator fan on my 7 isn't working :D
Anyways, it was pretty cool. The classroom session was fairly useless :) , but the track session was great (spent 7 hours there). We got to run a number of different course elements (slaloms, circles, lane changes...) and then got 2 runs at a fairly large course. There were about 50 rookies there, so I didn't feel to embarrased to miss a few gates here and there :) (at least I didn't spin!) Some very cool cars, a number of WRX/Imp. RS (most blue :) ), two E30 M3s, prepped AE86, 350 powered FC, new Beetle running 108 octane :) and many many others. I missed a few things since I had to cool off my car at one point. I was offered a ride in an S2k since my car was out of comission, but I declined (stupid, stupid, stupid!). Lots of nice and friendly people, lots of fast cars, and lots of scooped up cones...it was fun :)
Regarding my car...I'm still riding on 185/60/14 winter tires (beat that Mike! :) ) so it didn't really stick as much as I wanted it to, but I was suprised at how balnaced and easy to drive it was. I went into two fairly large slides and recovered from both nicely without hitting any cones. The suspension felt good, a bit soft as I was bottoming out at one point (coming down off a 19 degree oval banking), but still good.
So, I need to slap on my summer tires and fix the fan and I'm ready for the first event of the season (May 1st). I'm gonna try and win the rookie championship...free set of race tires in any size if I do :)

Ah, someone who is actively persuing their passion, refreshing. I'm also going to be doing a lot of classes this summer. You got great seat time, what's the cost?

Wow, that's cheap as hell, really cheap. Best price I've ever heard.

Now Persid is part of the Elite.
You know see what I mean when I say everyone should attend Racing school. Of all the field work, I think the most favorite was actually not the racing but the automotive survival courses. I learned a great deal, but it was great to get out there and learn the correct way to just plow into another car. :D
When it's not mine, GOSH I love those crunching noises!!!!!!!
Although, it's a false hope. As for a long time I awaited the chance to ram someone on the road when I finally just gave up and came to the realization that the chick on the cell phone wasn't following me nor an international terrorist. But there is a small portion of hope left. ah, crazy days.
Autocross is always fun, but I don't get out to do so. My neighbor offers all the time to compete with his Porsche club. But I really feel that they should be allowed their own group and keep it 'all-Porsche' as I would probably want my own club.
But, every once in a while I'll take a new passenger into a parking lot and tell them to pick a parking spot...rev rev, ERRRRTTTTT, engine accelerates, bbbbuuuuurrrrrrt spin end around end and when it all stops I just have to laugh. Useless (well not really) car control is just dang funny!

Wicked, but I have 2 questions:
- Why did you decline a ride in the S2000 ?
- Did you take any pictures ?

Blig, the Porsche club is full of everything but Porsches :)
electronlude, www.scca.org and go from there.
Lotus, I declined since I was trying to get my car to work at that time...as in, pouring water in it and blowing on the radiator so it'd cool off :) I didn't snap any pics because I forgot my camera. But somebody put up a few pics on the net:

None of my car though...but you can see it lined up in this picture:

I'm in the silver RX7 near the end of the line.

I really don't know, they weren't timing us since it was a school event. On Saturday they had a timed test and tune event but I didn't have time to attend that ($30cdn for a whole day of timed testing).

Copy that into your address bar and the picture will work.

It was 10pm when we started doing runs of the whole track, not just sections of it, so setting up the equipment would have been a pain in the ass. Plus, we were all fairly incosistant, so I don't think the times would help us any. And they had a full day of timed test-and-tune the day after for only $30 so most people who were interested in their times came back for that.

I would've wanted to see what my car would do from 0 to 60 and the 1/8th and 1/4 mile time as well as the track. :)

Just don't forget it next time :) Because that grey-ish spot doesn't really qualify as a photo of your RX-7 :)
