The Judd V10 powered Dallara Chassis of Doran/Lista Racing ran a relatively smooth race(albeit through some power steering problem, and electrical problem) to finish on top at the end of the 40th running of Daytona 24. The win is the 2nd for driver Didier Theys, and Mauro Baldi. And the first for the team's finacial backer Brain Lienhard and the "Mad Max" Max Papis. The win is the first time in 3 years that an top class SRP car claimed an Overall win, as last year and the year before the GTS class won overall. The 2nd overall is Jim Matthew's Riley and Scott Factory backed MK III-C with Elan(Panoz/Ford) Powerplant. 3rd place overall and first in SRPII Class was the Rand/Risi Competitizone SRPII Lola Nissan. 4th Place is the unique Porsche GT1 engine powered Lola of Champion Racing, after a difficult start to finish 4th. 5th is the GTS Class winning Rocket Sports Trans AM-derive Jaguar XKR.

So the SRPs are back on top again, as they should be. The top 2 finisher are the brand new SRP cars, the Dallara chassis was first launched last year in Le Mans with the Oreca team, and it is the first modern Prototype for the Grand AM series. And the Mk III C R&S is also a new and improved version of the fabled MKIII. And as the results shows, the older MKIII and the Ferrari 333SP does not have the ability to win anymore........
