According to former French Secret Service agent and current Jordan technician, Gilles Flaire, the new bi-directional technology that will be used this year could let a computer hacker cause a disaster at races.
In Flaire's opinion, it would be possible for hackers to interrupt Grands Prix this season should they find a way of interrupting radio messages between the pit and the car.

Flaire stated in an interview with Sportautomoto: "If the bi-directional telemetry allows those in the pit to control essential parameters of the car, it will be possible to interfere in the systems through devious methods".

"It will be difficult to spy, but easy to distract the radio communications between the car and pit. In addition, it will be easy to hide or mask the original message by preventing it from reaching its final destination.

"Eventually, if someone will be so good to find the signal that blocks everything, it can and will create a disaster."

Other pit lane insiders have also hinted at the opportunity for cheating it would allow, as espionage becomes a hot topic of discussion in the pit lane.

if this is possible.... we'll see a lot of "Mika Hakkinen Valencia retirement" story....
imagine the ability to shut off the engine on the last lap, could be huge on the betting scene.
