Today marks the first day of the 3 days testing leading up to the 24 hours at Daytona, the first Sportscar endurance race of the year. This year most notably will feature a lot of the Sports Racing Prototypes(SRPI, similar to LMP900) as well as the SRPII(similar to LMP675), from a lot of different makes as Ascari, Dallara, R&S, Crawford, Lola...etc. Power for the P car comes from makes such as BMW, Elan(Ford), Judd, and Chevy. On the GTS/GT class, the most notable thing is the absent of the Corvette Factory team, as the Rolex 24 has been excluded from their plan this year as they prepare to run the entire ALMS season and Le Mans. That means they won't be defending their overall win last year. Nevertheless, a diverse GTS field is still present this year, with Porsche GT1, Saleen S7R, Ultima GTR, Panoz Esperante(with LMP powerplant in a Trans Am chassis, driven by Paul Newman) and a Jaguar XKR(the Trans Am Jaguar of Rocketsports). In GT, there will be the usual Porsche GT3, as well as the non-factory BMW M3 GTR(hence not 4liter V8), as well as Ferrari 360 GT and Mosler MT900R.
