All hail the drift king!

And today also marks the official start of my search for a decent AE86 which will hopefully provide me with a few years of sideways fun.

Cool cars, most definitely, 'dem Hachi-Rokus. I still think you should look for a 200SX too, but that's just the Nissan freak inside of me...

Nice car, just don't rice it like this pufta at my school has.
It has much potential though.

Also I'm sorry but drift king is a name reserved for my car, :D,
its all the drifters fav, and it loves hangin its ass out.

HA!
We all know who started the movement and who still rules it :D

And Mike, yeah, I know :) But if you get a 200SX, don't be crying when I waste your ass in the curves.

11-20-2001, 10:51 PM
Bring it, biyaaaaatch! My 200SX WILL have some sort of forced induction working for it... that much I promise :)

Rokus may "have taste", but I bet that the 200SX is phatter, if not quite "hella cool"...

Lol, it's only a matter of time after someone mentions the AE86 till someone brings up Initial D.

Because I hate the show to no end :)

I have one of the movies on my hard drive, I haven't watched it or any of the rest of the series.

I don't care for the style in which they did the races... the CGI really didn't mesh well.

Hey I was just watching Initial D today... It kicks ass!

Anyway my friend hella wants and AE86, but has trouble finding a decent one.

i love the ae86, but i think if i was goin to get a drifting car i'd have to go for something in the silvia family, or maybe a rwd skyline.

Yeah, that's why I've decided to buy one now and not next summer...by then the prices will double once again :( Funny thing is that I don't even like drifting. Oversteer=good, drifting=bad :D

hondamatic
11-21-2001, 10:24 AM
Dude, regardless of how you feel about drifting, when you get that car, we are going out to Kananaskis Country on the road by Elbow Falls :D

11-21-2001, 10:29 AM
Well, that's a given :)

But I'm still not into drifting
(watch me change my mind first time the rear steps out :D)

hondamatic
11-21-2001, 10:33 AM
You said it dude... the first time your rear end sneezes out of line, you're gonna go opposite-lock and hammer on the gas :)

Ya I hate drifting to, seems real ricey. But as soon as I floored the Silvia in the corner I had a smile from ear to ear, it was almost a better drifter then my Skyline was. :)

King_Tut
11-21-2001, 01:21 PM
What the hell is this Initial D stuff anyway? Is it a drift cartoon or something?

skylinelover
11-21-2001, 02:07 PM
i think drifting is only ricey when its done the cheap way, with the hand brake. any other way i htink is a very difficult technique to master so i dont think that it is ricey.

Cartoon Network sucks a male camel's spermy dick... you'd be hard pressed to find more bastardized variations of anime, excluding the utterly horrible jobs done on public television.

King Tut, Initial D is basically a show about a guy drifting his AE86. There's lots of other crap going on, like finding more about himself through his car and whatever. But what it comes down to, drifting AE86s :) I personally hate the show (along with 99% other anime). I won't go into details why, but I can say that I grew up in a much different environment and just cannot imagine real characters acting the way they do in the show.

Anyways, the problem with this show is that every kid who sees it wants an AE86. So, the prices have tripled over the last few years. So, if you want an AE86, buy it now because by the time the show hits north america, it's gonna be too late :)

Also, if anybody hasn't seen it and wants to, you can download a few episodes at:
http://209.196.27.67/initiald.html

LanEvo, drifting is not the fastest way around a corner, that's for sure. It was basically developed by rally racers because they didn't have much choice but to drift, but drifting on tarmac is far from the best or the fastest way around any corner.

hondamatic
11-22-2001, 12:27 AM
...although it is quite fun :)

LanEvo
11-22-2001, 03:57 AM
it is faster IF you can do everything right, obviously not in like a real race or whatever because many things like tire damages are concerned

skylinelover
11-22-2001, 08:01 AM
lan evo its dragon ball not balls, another series is dragon ball z , and yet another is dragon ball gt

LanEvo
11-22-2001, 08:04 AM
i mean like the original dragon ball is cool...but then the z series and gt kinda sux...i don't care if cartoon network show them or not

LYTLdiablo
11-22-2001, 11:22 AM
ae86 is badass...its the true drift king

drifting is not ricey...the real ricers WISH they could drift...most people think that its sliding your tail around a corner...hahaha, its making progress around a corner with your rear wheels intentionally not having any grip, car going sideways (yet progressing) very hard to master...

Update on my car search...saw one AE86, totally rusted and ****ed, the guy wants $850Cdn. It's cheap, but it's really not worth the time and effort of restoring. Saw one MR2, for $3000cdn, seems like a very cool car (but 3 spoke rims  ), I'll drive it later today. Might end up buying it. Rebuilt engine, paing looks great, good interior, new clutch, new brakes.

Drove the silver MR2, drives really nice but I could hear one of the valves even in the cockpit :( It's being auctioned tomorrow, so I might get it if I could get it for $1500 or so.
Checked out another MR2, red, 200k km, $2400, a bit rusty, the interior isn't too bad, but it's not good either...but the engine is totally ****ed. It would pretty much choke until about 5000rpm, then it launches like it should. And they guy kept on telling me that's normal :(

i agree AE86 (esp. the GT-apex version) was the real drift king. we got lots of the here, priced roughly around 8-10k depending on the type and year. quite expensive by US standard i think...

11-24-2001, 02:27 PM
Nah, I checked out one more on Friday but the owner was an ass and I wouldn't buy anything from him. Then it started snowing so I packed it up until next Thursday. I've decided to check out at least 10-15 cars before buying one...don't wanna waste this money since I'm not going to have this much for a long long time :)

Also, I'm still leaning more toward an AE86, if I can find a decent one.

The RWD AE86 GTS was made from 85 to 87. Only three years. After that they started making the FWD AE92s.

Just another car buying update...checked out one more MR2, didn't like it (too rusted, engine ****ed). What's with MR2s and bad engines? :(

But, I also checked out a 86' RX7 with a recently (11 months ago) rebuilt engine, new clutch, 2 sets of tires, some easily fixable rust on the doors...the guy was asking $3000cdn, I offered $2300, he said $2500 but I wouldn't go up that high. Anyways, I left him my number so he'll call me tomorrow if he decides to let it go for $2300. So, looks like this is the one :D
