Alrite I was over at this other board and some guy was making a point about it's not a good idea to buy a 95 efini RX-7 (US spec) because eventually the rotary motor would be needed to be replaced and finding another 95 rotary engine (let alone a 95 FD3S) would be extremely hard.......

Does that make sense or can nebody here in the states just simply ship over a 95+ RX-7 engine from Japan and get the work done?

Cuz doesn't the law say that one can only replace/swap engines only if the engine is same year or newer? IF so, then wouldn't that be the same for 98 MKIV/MKIVTTs and all the discountinued Jap imports here in the states??

Or is there something that I don't know about that totally contradicts to what I'm tryin to ask/say??

latez..........

uh i think u can swap whatever you want, just make sure you have the right fuel system ecu and wiring harnesses (and wiring)

it usually depends if the stock motor mounts will be able to be used wtih the new engine and if it will fit, im not quite sure but well rod millen did a engine swap on his super celica the 500 hp one and he made new engine mounts and everything for that car. So you might need new engine support parts fuel system parts and componets etc.

if you know how to take care of them, rotary engines are very reliable. and if you didnt take care of the engine you wouldnt need a whole new engine. probably just apex seals. still a pain in the ass, dont get me wrong, but less than finding a new engine

Rotary engines are really simple to take care of. Just make sure you have the 76 vaccuum lines under control or the motor won't run that strong. About swaps, I'm sure it could be done. But if the motor is so rare in the first place I would choose to build up a dead motor instead of finding a new working one. Just seems easier if you would have the money. ;)

All you gotta worry about is replacing the seals every 60k miles or so... other than that it's a great motor and a kick ass car!

well if you drive it hard id go for more like every 40k, but in the end its worth it cuz you dont have to replace your 13B
