This is the conclusion that sport compact car and 4 other magazines came to in there articles labelled the G-Games. If you don't have a copy pick one up. 5 magazines were allowed to bring two cars. There was only one type of tire used and various different heats. There was skidpad, slalom, and once around a track.
The winner over the other 10 cars which ranged from a Type-R, a 653hp Supra, '71 Bug, Del Sol, and others was a '93 Rx-7.
So the winner and maybe best handling car from Jap is the Rx-7, third gen of course.

I'd challenge the handling statement for best...
Maybe it inspires to most confidence, but I don't see it as the best handler.
Stock form I think the NSX is a better handler.

i think that the rex and the nsx are about even on handling, but i think that the nsx would make the better track car.

i think my mr2 turbo handles pretty well with a 1 inch drop to ride at rx7 height.
