Does anyone have a website where I could find the highest selling cars in the US and/or the World?

Yes...but they're not accessable to the general public. What specific information would you like to find?

I was wondering if there was like a sheet that had the top 50 or so most sold cars for 2000? I've found the top 10.

Try digging around www.autointell.com or www.wardsauto.com, there's a remote possibility that they'll have them but I haven't had the chance to look.

Best selling car in the world is the Ford Focus I think...

In America It is either the Accord or the Camry I think.. Trucks sell more than cars though.

The top selling vehicles in the US (for the 2001 model year) are, in order:

1. Ford F-Series (F150, F250 SuperDuty, F350 SuperDuty)
2. Chevrolet Silverado
3. Honda Accord
4. Ford Explorer
5. Toyota Camry
6. Ford Taurus
7. Dodge Ram Pickup
8. Honda Civic
9. Ford Ranger
10. Ford Focus

Worldwide, the Ford Focus was the top selling car. The Toyota Corolla, Volkswagen Golf, Opel/Vauxhall Astra (or Corsa), Fiat Punto, Peugeot 206, and Renault Clio were among the top sellers.

I haven't been able to locate a good "top 50" list by model, but I do have the top 38 by manufacturer.

Hudson I'd be interested in the top 38 of each manufacturer?? How come ford has so many cars ont here and Chrysler one has one on there adn so does GM?

Kurenai

That renforces my opinion about Ford being the best manufacturer.

No. It's the top 38 manufacturers....not models.

ohhhhh:) Is the list world-wide?And is it like just Ford or is it Lincoln, Mercury, Ford and same goes for GM Chrysler and so on?

Ford IS NOT the best manufacture... but it surely has the potential.

Would you say Toyota is the best then?

I'd definitly agree that Ford has assloads of potential.

They must have done something right if 900k plus people bought a pickup from them and they out sold every other truck. And out sold every other car made last year.

I don't know who is the best... Toyota/Lexus is up there though...

It is hard to say, because not all car makers are the same, so its not like your comparing apples to apples.

The top manufacturers (not brands) in terms of worldwide production (as of 2000) are:

1. General Motors
2. Ford Motor Company
3. Toyota Motor Corporation
4. Volkswagen AG
5. DaimlerChrysler AG
6. PSA/Peugeot-Citroen
7. Fiat SpA
8. Nissan Motor Company
9. Hyundai Group
10. Honda Motor Company
11. Renault SA
12. Suzuki Motor Company
13. Mitsubishi Motor Corporation
14. BMW AG
15. Mazda Motor Corporation
16. Daewoo Motor Company
17. AutoVAZ
18. Fuji Heavy Industries
19. Isuzu Motors Ltd.
20. First Automotive Works

Positions 21-38 get into a bunch of smaller producers, many of which you've probably never heard about. Just to give you an idea, GM produced about 8.5 million vehicles in 2000 and FAW (#20) produced about 423,000 units.

Toyota is going to buy GM and Ford... Then maybe VW.

Hudson

Too much baggage. Would YOU want all of that excess....um...stuff! Heck, the GM executives with their thumbs up their asses alone could populate Rhode Island! And then there's William Clay "Hey, My Name's on the Building, Not Yours" Ford running things over in Dearborn.

Toyota already owns most of Daihatsu (included in that positioning above) and a major portion of Hino (listed separately, #31). All they need to do is buy a major western truck producer (PACCAR or Navistar, perhaps?) and maybe an exotic/sports car maker (or start their own) and they'll have everything they need.

How come mazda is up there? Shouldn't it be counted under ford?

Kurenai

Ford doesn't own all of Mazda, just a controlling share I believe.

The Toyota buying Ford and GM was only a joke.

Yes...about 37%.

As for FAW (First Automotive Works), yes, it's a joint-venture with the Chinese government. I didn't elaborate on the manufacturers below 20 (including #20) because I didn't think anyone cared. I do know a little about all of them.

isn't VAZ that russian company?

how can hyundai sell more than honda?

Im not too surprised that VAZ is up there because more than half or Russia drives one.

As far as Hyundai it is a bit surprising, but again as far as I know half of Korea is driving one of those too. And probably a shit load of people in China too.

Lizard King

I didn't know Mercury sold cars in China.

In Chinese films they are often driving these Russian looking black sedans that I'm guessing are some cheap, China-only cars.

I forget what the movie is called, but it has Jean Claud Van Dam playing some guy and his twin brother.

Anyway there is a scene where they pick up one of the brothers thinking it is the other. He gets in the car with a wealth Chinese man. What is that car? It is like a graphite color… Reminds me of a super Luxury car… I sweat it.

The exterior is niceee..

AvtoVAZ is a Russian company. They're most famous for the Lada.

FAW produces Volkswagen products under license. Other vehicles in China include Beijing Jeeps (both Chinese trucks and Jeep Cherokee/Grand Cherokees) and the Buick Century, GL8 (minivan), and Sail.

Hyundai holds over half of the South Korean market as well as selling a few hundred thousand in North America. Honda's largest market is the US.
