All I've ever heard was through Motorex. Then I heard through Nissan that they would come over in the G35 but the power behind it won't be anything big, nothing sporty like the R35, or past models!

I hope and pray to God himself that they don't carry over so much as a sun visor from that awful GT-R concept. The R34 is the zenith of automotive beauty; why mess with it?

Well I hear that there will be two engines to choose from. If you can choose which over here in the states I don’t know. It will make it to the U.S. however…

The two options are a turbocharged Maxima engine I believe.. And the other is a 3.5 liter V8..

I seriously doubt they are going to have two motor options.

a turbocharged maxima engine would just be an old 300zx engine, yep they have the same engine, vg30de and vg30dett, anyway yea the new gt-r is supposed to come here, i like the new design but the r34 as stated before its perfection.

Come on guys everyone knows the G35 only takes styling cues from the Skyline.

<img src="http://autoweek.com/weekart/2001/0618/g354.jpg">

With the Q45 out of the blocks, Nissan's high-end division is turning its attention to its next big thing: the Infiniti G35 high-performance premium sports sedan. Scheduled to go on sale next spring as a 2003 model, the G35 is based on the Nissan Skyline and features sports sedan styling and a 3.5-liter V6 engine powering a new rear-wheel-drive platform.

Sound familiar? If the IS 300 from Toyota's top-line Lexus brand comes to mind, you have a pretty good idea of where the Nissan folks are aiming. The G35 will finally give Infiniti a rear-wheel-drive competitor to the IS, the BMW 3 Series and Mercedes C-Class.

It's no coincidence either that the Infiniti trumps Lexus with a 3.5-liter engine. Horsepower and torque figures aren't out yet, but look for at least 260 hp, easily surpassing the 215 hp produced by the IS 300's inline six.

Until the G35 debuts, Infiniti's midsize sedan remains the front-wheel-drive I35. Infiniti warns that "minor details may vary in the final production" G35, but count on the key components of a competitive, rear-wheel-drive sports sedan to make it to the showroom. Speaking of components, might these ones figure into the new Z Car?

maxima is a 3.5 liter now...also i dont think that they will ahve a 3.5 liter v8 and a 3.5 liter v6 at teh same time (i know you didnt say that but someone did)

ive heard of rumors of a twin turbo 3.5 liter v6, or a n/a 4 liter v8

I don't think Nissan has confirmed anything about North American sales of the GTR.

The I35 is the eqiv. of the sedan skyline in japan, the GT-R which is a completly diff. body on the same chassis hasn't been released yet, but if it looks anything like the concept I say we all write threatening letters to nissan. GT-T and GT-S I believe are the models below the GT-R with the RB25DET motor and the auto tranny which is FR instead of 4wd.

me, i love the r34 and think that the r35 gtr cannot compete but its decent.

Um yes I said it and Nissan DOES have a 3.5 liter V8.. It was used in the R390 GT1. Though that was turbocharger this would be N/A. Just in case you thought they didn't make one. Besides, the V8 version would most likely be lighter or in a model type if they do go ahead with it.

I think it is quite possible too. Why not, competition will be stiff in this segment.

The I35 is NOT the equivalent of the Skyline. The I35 is the Cefiro...the same car that the Maxima is based on. The upcoming G35 is the Skyline.

Your right I get those two mixed up, I hate infiniti's naming scheme. Thanks for the correction.

I just wish car companies had imaginations like they did at one time. When styling was radical and cars had NAMES! What was wrong with "Legend" and "Vigor" and "Integra"...they're so much more powerful than "3.5RL" or "3.2TL" or "RSX". And deVille and Seville become DTS and STS...how sad is this? Lincoln's looking into this too.

I agree Hudson, Acura's older names were sweet.

However I think its is trendy to be able to identify what is under the hood of a luxo car. Or at least they want to follow there German competition..

it should be alphanumeric words

example...the skyline...it has letters...it has numbers...and it has words
