OK this is my husbands 92 ford taurus GL with a 95 mercury sable 3.0 engine. We have been trying to find out the problem with this car forever. the original engine had blowen headgaskets when we got it. So we replaced the engine with the 95 mercury's and drove it around for about a month. The problem was it kept overheating do to the cooling fan not kicking in. So we went to his cousins not a perfesional but he knew more about cars than us. He took out the heat sensor so the cooling fan would run consintly . Well then they went on a small drive to see if it would over heat they went Maybe 100 yards and it shut off. It would tunr over but wouldn't start. The problem was the fuel wasn't getting to the engine. The fuel pump works fine when we strait wired it to the battery. The car would run but it was fludding out. There is no fuel pump relay anywere this year. Aperently this was the first and last time they used this electrical system. Ruling out we replaced the computer, the moduler that mounted to the radeator sapport right above the radiator(which we believe was sapposed to take the place of the fuel relay),the kill switch in the trunk, and the string collem because the car was reposesed and the ignition was smashed out. Thought maybe there was a relay or fuse link or something bad in there. The car has got us boggled :dunno: and has for almost a year. If there is anyone who has had such a problem please help. Thanks and Rock out
I said just get rid of the car but he loves it :loco:

I belive your problem is in the switch for the kill in the trunk you might want to see if they offer a replacement or if there is a way to cut it out and bypass it I belive it is just a momentary switch in said case you should be able to bypass it. And I do belive that the fact the collumn was peeled has alot to do with it becuase of how it is wired into the ignition there should be a relay for the fuel pump. I can't see anyone hardwiring a pump.. the amount of amps they draw that is far too high to see it wired direct. They may not have a conventional relay but there has to be something to soak up the power. There has to be a ford guy here who can troubleshoot this. Don't waiver too far from that switch I really belive that is your problem.
