Usually hang out at the Audi sites but I need of some Volvo advice.

Thinking of getting one of these Volvo V40 2l or 1.8l, auto 4/5 spd. Any advice would be much appreciated. Someone mentioned the auto transmission is a bit weak? Looking at a 98-2000 model, 40000-60000 miles. thanks

I just did a search through the consumer guides and didn't find any major problems with the years in question. Sounds like a winner if that's what you want :)

Thanks Mike, I didn't think there was any major faults with them either, I guess as long as it has a good service history.

I don't like the new vovlo's but a used one sounds good
